Barry is right, it's a 261 cid from a Canadian Pontiac. It's a long history with this engine. A friend of mine (Barry you know Sylvain Daigle who was with me this Spring) rebuit a CMP C15A and the previous 216 engine in this truck was stuck and non recuperable. In same time, my neighbor tells me he has an 261 engine in perfect condition in his garage and he doesn't know what to do with. BINGO! I then decided to sell Sylvain the 235 engine which was in my Chevy and buy the 261 to put in my truck. Two birds with one stone as we say in French.

Cheers

Guy

Thanks John for these informations. The block number of mine is 3837012 and I will verifie the head number next week-end.

Last weekend, I met Bob Carriere from Hammond Ontario at Sorel car show (near Montreal). It's a really nice guy and we had a great time to discuss CMPs and Chevrolet truck.

Cheers and Das Dicke Ende kommt Noch

Hello All,

Works on my truck have not progressed significantly since last April but last weekend, I completed the mechanical part and we started the engine. This 261 cid engine purrs like a cat and exactly 19 months after his final run, my truck rolled again and everything works perfectly. The engine did not yet its muffler but despite this, it really not noisy. Click on the next picture to view this reborn.

In introduction, here is the video of final run in December 2008. Small anecdote, when I descended the slope, the truck had no brakes and I slowed to a stop by turning off the engine while I was taking down the slope... Not recommended for green drivers

Here is the reborn and check the banana on my face :D
