Contract numbers

Post by mud-snow »

Anyone who can tell me what serialnumbers went on which contract?
Serialnumber 13189-A2 to 41188-A2 is the first contract CCKW from late february 41 until late may 41. What contract number is this?
W-398-QM-10250 is the second contract going from serial 41189-A2 to ???
Anywhere a compleete list on the net?
And would be glad if someone have it and can mail it to me.

Chers

Rolf

BTW: Have got info on a still existing ACKWX in Norway.

Hi Rolf,

Sorry I havn't sent you the info I promised, I've been busy. I have all the contract info so I'll get it copied for you.

An ACKWX in Norway! I wonder if it's one that was sent from the US post war or one of the French contract trucks?

Rolf, chassis numbers 13189 to 41188 were on contract W-398-QM-9095. the registration numbers were W-429270 to W-457269. the maintenance manual for these trucks is TM 10-1501.

Cheers!

Hi Joel,

Are you sure? I have both TM 10-1105 and TM 10-1501 in front of me now. as you say 1105 covers the CCKWX but 1501 is for the first CCKW's which still had the 1574 cab, early brake system etc and they were the first contract to have banjo axles fitted.

I have several TM10-1501 with the orange cover, and on the cover is listed the USA registration Numbers that the manual was published for. They are W-429270 to W-457269.

My CCKW 352 is USA 454317 and was returned from Denmark in 1982 by me.

Hi Degsy,

After chassis number 64465 it gets much harder as the late TM 10's and all following manuals did not have production and contract info in them for "security reasons". GM do not seem over keen to open their wartime files to the public unlike Chrysler. based on the number I'd say your truck is late 43 or early 44.

Maybe Joel has more info.

Hi Matt
I was clutching at straws, I have dated it to Dec '43 but would like to get at least somewhere near with the reg no. Thanks anyway.

Here are two examples of why CCKW delivery dates are not an exact science.....

CCKW-353-297528-1. date of delivery 6-43.

CCKW-353-271912-2. date of delivery 10-43.

These are from two original dataplates I have.

Hi Degsy,

The problem is the chassis could have been made months before it was delivered,I would say your chassis could be earlier than December but it's hard to tell exactly.
