cckw body designation?
hi all, would the gmc cckw fall under a COE type of truck, meaning cab over engine. i have found some parts on the internet but some list as chevy 1 1/2 ton and a different part number is listed for chevy COE ONLY and i know there are som compatible parts between the cckw and 1 1/2 ton chevy, but which one? 1 1/2 ton or 1 1/2 ton COE?

it is obvious that the ring and pinion gears on the Timkin split axels and the banjo type axels don't match, but there are other parts differences between the two also. Like the front sheel brake cylinders and brake shoes.

>bill, what i was looking at was the ring and pinion gear sets for banjo >axles. do you know what years 1 1/2 ton ring and pinion gears will >interchange with the cckw ring and pinion for banjo axles.
The 1941-46 Chev should work fine. The axle ratio will be different though. Chevy as far as I know never used the 6.66 x 1 ratio like the GMC and Chevy army trucks did. You would need all 3 axles to be the same.
The side gears that drive the axles are different splined than the military ones: 16 vs 10 vs 13 for the 2 speed rearend
Hope this helps
