CLOSED CAB SERIAL NUMBERS
Curious as to the correlation of 1574 and 1608 Closed cab serial numbers embossed on the ID tag that is riveted to the opper Cowl by the radiator brace and the Chassis number. If you are positive your Closed Cab is original to your chassis, let's hear from you. Closed Cab for the time being. I am not attempting to make a list, just curious. I know mine is not the cab my truck was delivered with.

My truck, Chassis number 38576, has what I think is the truck's original cab, at least it has ash-tray, civilian instruments and some sheet glass from 1941 (Hi test safety sheet LOF). And the cab serial number plate is riveted to firewall above the voltage regulator. No other original data plates left on the cab, it would be cool to know the DOD. Perhaps there is a hidden dump in some Norwegian forest with the dataplates of 3000 Jimmies...

And.... Does the plate riveted onto the cowl have anything printed on it?

I think your trucks MFD is round 1. July 1941 from the ever groing list I have. Would appreciate more info, Banjo or split axles? Winch or no winch?
I would think it is a CCKW-352 B1 truck but can you confirm?
And it seems a bit strange that the Norwegian Army would mount a MG mount on it and make a hole in the roof. They had plenty of them without making one them selves... but who know all the history???

And.... What is after the 1574. That will be the Cab Serial Number. 1574 is the Cam Model number.

Cab serial number...went to have a look under the hood, and yes, it only really says 1574-, the rest of the tag has been cut away, to make room for patces (3x3") to strenghten the firewall around the strut holes. I allways thought there was only this short tag, now I see it's been longer, but anyway the serial number is lost for ever. Sorry cannot help with the number. Mud-snow: Yes it's a 352 B-1, thank You for the date of manufacture estimate. The ring mount: I'm pretty sure it was fitted after the war, and it was never used, not even tried, because it has been incorrectly put together. The trolley hits some bolt-heads and won't go round. Maybe some washers missing or the bolts wrong way around? I guessed the ring would have been fitted in Norway, maybe it was done in some other European country, but surely not during the war! It's US built in 1943.

1574 Cab was installed on all CCKWX and CCKW up to Chassis number 41,188. That would be up to mid 1941.

hi joel were 1608 cabs later in production ?? my cckw has this model but i don t think she is an early model as chassis no is later....
she has early pto equipment etc so i think she may have been re cabbed...
if so why use a closed cab if chassis number a late one ....

May get into 1608 later.
Too many variables, want to stay within Chassis 41,188 range for now.
Too much mixing and no matching to explain with any logic on early chassis wth later cab, or late chassis with closed cabs. They have lost their virginity forever.

Closed Cab 352 in Canada
Hi Guys:
I'm a new member and new to CCKW ownership. I'm located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
My latest green thing is a hard cabbed CCKW352 40236B1 and the current registration painted on it is USA 4171938-S. Not being well versed in US registrations, I have no idea if this is appropriate to the truck. Advice from more knowledgeable members of this forum will be warmly welcomed.
I am also looking for a source for the early cab data plates as my main plate (on the footboard) is rotten and faded. Suggestions?

In my list I have one only 18 nubers before you, and that on ewas MFG 06.23.41
Your WD number I think i wrong. It shlould be with W instead of USA.
The truck mentioned above (18 berfore yours) have WD number W 455177
It is also a SWB B1 truck, and it have a ringmount. But I am not sure if it have the original cab.

I exercised in the Bardufoss area of your beautiful country a few times back when I was with the Special Service Force (SSF) in the 1980's. I was amazed at the time what good shape your army had kept its many CCKW's. Funny that mine might be a vet of the Norwegian forces!
I appreciate getting more info on when mine was built. The UK registration says early Jun 41 but I suspect that you are right... with only 18 between them it is highly likely that mine came out the same day as yours. Does that make us twins?
Mine does not have a ring mount, for which I am glad, as the ones my Regiment used in Korea (1950 to 53) as gun tractors were not fitted with the ring mount. When mine gets home to Canada it will be repainted to represent a Canadian Korea vet. I look forward to posting photos once I figure out how.

I am glad all you forigners have been in Norway for all those years during the cold war! Who know what would happend if we did not have you to lean on...
And the SSF started out with many Norwegians too back in WWII up in the mountains in US and Canada...

We were very proud of our Canada/USA heritage in the SSF and I met many FSSF veterans in my years in the Force. The fact that we were originally created for ops in Norway was icing on the cake when we deployed there. We were always treated like Kings by your military and your locals (from whom we bought fresh eggs, milk and butter (smoer!).
I had one young soldier who had to outrun an angry farmer/Daddy when he was caught in the barn with the buxom daughter... he says they were looking for fresh eggs... naked!!
What info do you need for your CCKW register?
