we have up to 18" of snow predicted.
Winter in WWII was similar. Imagine the truck drivers hauling munitions in snowy conditions, those shells slip and slide on snow. Bomb service vehicles experienced the same. The war went on regardless, Ammunition had to move, bomb dumps had to be restocked. Nothing more dangerous thab heavy projectiles with a little snow added.

Army bases were primative, even 20 years after WWII. As a young Private with the 86th Enginers, I had the honor of riding the streets of Ft Dix in back of a 5 Ton M-51 Dump loaded with sand after storms. The body would be tilted and two rugged GI volunteers would broadcast sand with a GI Shovel as the truck moved slowly. After a night of that, I would work on those same trucks in the shop all day.

The WWII US Army did not issue Snow Brushes and plastic Ice Scrapers.

My CCKW is now officialy in winter storage, the engine will not be started until warm weather, unless there is a good reason. No preparation was done other checking the prestone and adding Stabil. It is stored inside the barn. Gotta tell ya tho, I still get a nice feeling when I slide open the door and the CCKW is there staring at me.
