Web belts for open cab doorway.

Post by SpookyDad »

On my truck are web belts that go across each doorway.
Are these original?
Are they a common item?

Neil,

There are supposed to be belts across the door for the obvious reasons. As to whether yours are original only a picture would tell that.

Belts are available. Originals, in the proper configuration, are scarce.

Here are the pictures. I think they are original because they are painted the first darker red color whiich was done in March of '45.

Safety Straps

Post by Colin Britton »

The clasps are "early war" supposedly. I have the cast clips on my CCKW but the straps look the same as my repro's so I'm glad that they are correct.
Looks like you just need to get the red paint off the straps, sand blast your clasps there Spooky, and you're good to go.
Them thar's the real thang......

Except that I am taking the sides off and building a whole new closed cab. I have to extend the cab towards the rear 8" and build a new frame. Fortunately it is a slab sided cab.

I have no use for the straps unless I was going to make seatbelts out of them. I don't want to do that if someone needs them to restore his truck.

Any ideas on what they are worth?

Here in Europe, most/all people are doing the opposite and remove the added closed cabs to go back to the original torpedo cab
