Guys,
I recently purchased a '44 353-1 and had it hauled to me from 300 miles away.
It had a non-original dump bed on it that I have recently removed.
The previous owner just sent me photos of an old bed in the field where my truck had sat for about 25 years.
Do you guys think this bed has any chance of being the original?
It looks like nothing ive seen in the tm9-801 or the snl and is estimated to be about 20ft long.
Since the truck was originally a "cab and chassis only", I was wondering if maybe they made a few oddballs not worthy of being placed in the manual. 1 offs or 2 offs.
Notice the od green on some of the photos....also looks like someone welded aftermarket diamond plate door to it...

Re: Trying to Identify Bed
The quickest spotting feature for a correct WW2 cargo bed for these vehicles is a tool/storage box at the rear between the bed frame rails ( under the floor ) with a door that swings up
Also the rear tailites ,1 each side are "inset", and there is a trailer recepticle, again inset next to the left tailite.
The photos seemed blurry to me but I doubt that the bed pictured is correct.
Hope this helps
John
