F-3 AAF Tanker
Another CCKW saved just in the nick of time! CCKW 353 256598-2 F-3 fuel servicing truck. It was nearly crushed for scrap. Needs work, no engine, grill, and etc. But I have most of what she needs already. Thanks again to Nick for the help.

Re: F-3 AAF Tanker
I'm just glad we were able to save it in the short amount of time we had. That will definitely be a recovery to remember.

Re: F-3 AAF Tanker
Just paid the tow bill, I'm glad I have friends in the biz.
As for the color, CAT Yellow is very cheap here
I think Nick and I are both glad we left the Class 300 fire truck, that's an easy project for our friend's first MV.
BTW, what's the difference between the F-1 and F-3 trucks. Haven't had time to dig into the books yet.

Re: F-3 AAF Tanker
The piping arrangment is slighly different also between the gasoline and the lube oil trucks/tanks
The data plates are normally located on the passenger side front lower compartment doors ( interior )
Are there any plates left ?
Hope this helps

Re: F-3 AAF Tanker
I think all the plates are there. I remember the F-3 plate and the plates on the use of the pump/reels. They're pretty big, correct?

Re: F-3 AAF Tanker
I attended a seminar about the Vietnam era Skyraider aircraft at the EAA convention a couple weeks ago here. One of the veteran pilots who flew them was asked about fuel consumption.
He shrugged and replied they never worried about it. That big radial engine would run out of oil way before it ran out of fuel.
No wonder they needed a seperate "OIL Servicing" truck like your CCKW.
