Interesting article regarding E-15 and boats. It also relates to our hobby and vehicles. Look for fuel leaks and engine failures...

Note there is a typo in the first paragraph. It should say 2007 rather than 2001.

• Compatibility questions: Many components on a boat come in contact with ethanol-laden gasoline, including fuel lines, fuel tanks, fuel pumps, fuel injectors, carburetors, pressure regulators, valves, o-rings, and gaskets. The compatibility of these components with any blend greater than E10 is currently unknown. The failure of only one of these components in your engine could lead to failure or, worse, a fire or explosion.

Which includes Boats, Snowmobiles, PWC's, Tractors, Construction equipment, lawnmowers, Chainsaws, weedwackers, Generators, basically anything else gasoline powered. Looks like they want us back in the stone age.

Being in the business there has been a lot of talk about this over the last 18 months.

The only people who want this are the corn growers as it will drive up the price of corn.

Even the environmental moonbats are worried about the damage it is going to do on the environment from it's residue.

The proposal being thrust forward by the EPA is a third pump at the gas island. One for Regular, one for premium, and one for E-85. Convenience stores are up in arms about this due to the added expense of adding additional pumps, plumbing, and in ground tanks.

This is just a bad idea gone crazy. Hopefully it will go no where.

Interesting article. Here in Germany actually big confusion emerged as our goverment decided to place so called E-10 gasoline on the market. 10% Ethanol. They said 90% of our vehicles are capable of burning this fuel without harm. Of course, no one was informed about, if his or her car belongs to these 90%. So I asked my manufacturer. And ta dah! My 2001 Alfa Romeo does not like this "junk fuel". Does any one know how our GMC 270 engines react to that kind of fuel?

Regards,

Chris

Found a link in internet about ethanol fuel E85 here in sweden:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E85

I own one old 1981 volvo 245 , engine usually runs too hot on regular gas but runs great on pure E85 or a mix of 50/50 E85-gasoline, depends on local weather cond,
plastic parts in carb still intact, but 1 fuel line needed to replace ,
