WW2 Ford tractor.

Trucks used by the U.S. Army in world War II that were 2.5 tons and larger. Such as Studebaker US-6, International M5-6, 4 Ton tractors (Auto Car, etc.), 5 Ton (Corbitt, etc.), the Dragon Wagon, and any other trucks 2.5 tons and over.

WW2 Ford tractor.

Post by Matt »

Ok I know it's not a truck but does anyone know anything about the WW2 warehouse/aircraft tractor based on the Ford-Ferguson 2N tractor? apparently they were know as a Moto-Tug. one is pictured on page 383 of the Historic Military Vehicles Directory by Bart Vanderveen.

As some of you know I'm also interested in older American tractors and this is something that caught my attention!

Hi Matt
If you are interested in Ford tractors you might enjoy this photo of a 2N in Canadian service. I have seen only one other photo of a tractor like this. Notice the Canadian army truck style front bumper and the channel iron supports. I have a couple of 2N's and thought about doing one up like this in RCAF (Royal Canadian Airforce) markings. I will post the other photo if I can find it. Notice the headlamp!!! Woman driver. Is that blacked out or knocked out?
Cheers,
Barry

Matt, here is the other photo. This is a brochure showing all of Ford Canada's vehicles produced in WW2. Notice the same bumper but a little different wheels or wheel discs.
Cheers,
Barry

Hi Matt
Here is a real neat airport vehicle. It is sooo ugly :( but I would buy it in a heart beat if I had the $$$ and it was in my part of the world. It must be close to you so maybe you could add it to your collection.
Cheers,
Barry

I like it! I have never seen one before even in WW2 photos so I wonder where the guys info comes from? it could be a post war garage conversion, but IF it is a pre war RAF baloon support vehicle it belongs in the RAF museum.

The seller has ended the auction early.

Matt,
sorry, I don't have a picture but the local New Holland (Ford) tractor dealership has a number of restored Ford tractors including one 9n mototug. One of these days, I will get out there and take a picture. The story goes that a number of them where bought after the war and used to tow cotton trailers from the field to the warehouse.

I did find this picture on the internet of one in case anyone else is wondering what they look like.
