Hi from snowy Sussex

Post by DodgeNick »

Hi,

I've been visiting this forum for a while and have been waiting to purchase a Jimmy before I registered. I'm from Sussex in the UK and have been in the mv world for a while.

Well, I have recently bought a 1943 closed cab GMC with workshop body for total restoration. I have attached a photo of it below (hopefully it will come out as I'm not too sure how to attach photos!).

Image

This adds to my collection which currently comprises 1945 WC52 (restored), 1960 Hotchkiss M201 jeep (restored), 1943 WC63 (unrestored), 1942 US 37mm A/T gun (restored), 1944 Maxon turret (being restored), 1944 Hobbs 5 ton turntable trailer (restored) and 19?? trailer mounted field kitchen (unrestored).

I'll hopefully be starting work on her in the not too distant future but she certainly won't be ready for this years season. Too many other projects to do at the moment.

Anyway, looking forward to being part of this forum.
All the Best.

Cheers guys for the warm welcome.

Yes, I tend to keep rather busy with the vehicles and they tend to keep my bank balance down! :(

Don't hold your breath waiting for the restoration pics though as it will be a while. Going to collect many of the parts needed before dismantling. Which reminds me, the passenger side door glass is broken......I need a replacement......anyone got a spare for sale?!

Will probably start the restoration sometime in the summer/autumn of this year. Will keep you posted though.

Cheers

Welcome Nick.

I too have a closed cab CCKW shopvan. I am sure we can compare some notes along the way. I just picked up another van body for mine a DRMO auction as mine was rather tough at the bottom of the sides.
