1942 CCKW Compressor Truck

Post by Capt Lee P »

Hi,

I just looked at a November of 1942 CCKW LeRoi Compressor Truck with 38 miles on the ticker which is for sale.

It still has OD paint thru the rust. It is pretty much all there (no tools, however the compressor unit and engine looks intact. The tool boxes are intact. There is alot of rust and some rust thru's. Windows are broken, seat gone, 10 flat tires, however, no major dents other that the hood. It looks like it will go for scrap steel prices, maybe a little more (he won't tell me his price, just make an offer).

The owner is older and taking pictures did not seem to fit in .. . sorry.

If interested contact me . . I just want to save it from the scrap yard. . in
Northern California.

Hi Lee,
Is it a closed cab? Does it have a winch?

Thanks,

If anyone does save this truck, and I hope they do!,I can help out with info in the LeRoi engine and compressor and the correct pneumatic tools. I have most of the manuals.

There are not many CCKW compressor trucks around. The smaller 105CFM compressor version is more common than the 210CFM model. LeRoi engine codes are D318 and D471.

1942 CCKW Compressor Truck

Hi,

To clarify: it is a closed cab, non- winch model. It has banjo axles. The drive train appears complete.
There is also another CCKW closed cab with complete drive train (?) on the property which could also be for sale. Its cab and hood are actually pretty good. The flat bed on this truck is not original as are the modified front fenders.
I would say that the LeRoi Compressor truck has the 105cfm compressor as it has the lower exhaust stack. The compressor engine and the compressor appear quite complete.

1942 CCKW Compressor Truck

Post by Capt Lee P »

Hi,

The compressor truck is located in Santa Rosa, CA, fifty miles north of San Francisco. I will be most happy to arrange a "visit".
