picked my m7 trailer up...

Post by Nick Bombini »

Well, I was finally able to get up and get the trailer Saturday. I was only able to retrieve one as that is all my truck could handle going over Donner pass. I took some parts off the other and left it with them. It took me and my brother 7 hours to get there and nearly 10 to get home plus a lot of gas . After it was all said and done, we were gone for almost 23 hours to get the trailer and we got home about 4 in the morning.

While driving through the Susanville area, I was surprised by how much military equipment is everywhere. I spotted several CCKWs and even spotted a HO-17 radio shelter sitting underneath an overhang next to a house.

Here is my trailer sitting in my front yard.

I took a picture of the data plate on the trailer I left there. The guy I bought it from is going to remove the data plate and mail it to me.

He also wanted to give me a CCKW for free because he wants it out of there but it is just a parts truck and I don't have the room to store it or the means to get it home.

The frame has been shortened and it has been converted to a single rear axle.

I plan on taking another drive up there at some point to see what equipment I can spot around the area.

No, not yet. We live in a flat area, so I'm going to see how the truck does with the trailer. It will be slow getting up to speed I'm sure, but I'm not pulling any hills, so it should be fine.

Here are some pics with the wheels on and back at the house. I had to take it to a friend's farm a few miles away to unload it and put the wheels on.

I finally pushed it into the back yard so the neighbors won't hate me . Notice I had to flip the lunette and lower it a few spaces to make sure it wouldn't bottom out while on my pickup.

Can anyone tell me anything about the marking on the trailer? I don't have the books or research material to track down units and such.
