Special Trailer Wiring

This trailer tail light converter will allow you to have directionals on your trailer
and have electric brakes utilizing the normal WW2 4 pin connector. It is designed
for trucks and trailers that have been converted to 12 volts and that have been
modified to have integrated directionals.

This converter is simple and uses simple diodes that can be purchased from your
local Radio Shack. A diode allows electricity to pass in one direction only. As it
does this, it reduces the voltage by about .6 volts.

This converter works by eliminating the normal parking/running light connection
to the trailer. Instead, the bright light (stop and directional) bulb filament is used
as the parking/running light by reducing the voltage to this bulb when it is operated
as the parking/running light. This is accomplished by using diodes to drop the voltage
to these bright lamps. When the stop or directional functions are needed, other
diodes provide a higher near normal voltage and therefore make them brighter.

By using 7 diodes (7 diodes X .6 volts per diode) you reduce the voltage to the
bright filaments by about 4.2 volts when using the parking/running light function.

The converter will work with any trailer you want to tow behind your CCKW,
civilian or military as long as it is equipped with 12 volt bulbs.
