Timken front hubs

Hi all,

A quick question on Timken front hub assemblies:

I have dismantled the trunnion halves, and it appears that one side was assembled incorrectly some time in the past. For the right hand side, the outer half has a small semi-circle machined out of the flange of the casting between the studs, near the bottom stud, which has left a matching rust mark on the inner half. There appears to be part of a stamping where the trunnion caps mount, which might have said "TOP", but it was on the bottom. The left hand side semi-circle is on the top!

It would appear that the castings may not be machined symetrically. Can anyone confirm which is the correct way up for the outer half? Does it matter?
