TM9-1801, manuals

Post by awg »

Does TM9-1801 offer much in addition to the service manual I have
which is TM10-1563?

I also have original TM9-801 and SNL G-508 and a copy of the cab-over manual.

A fellow sent me a copy of one chapter from TM9-1801 dealing with
cab&body which was way more detailed than 1563.

I notice seperate publications such as 'Engine Fit Wear and Tolerance"
are also available, any observations or recomendations would be appreciated.

Here is another one, I just dug it out

SE9-001 "Army Truck GMC Service Bulletins,1943..101 modifications,
deficiencies,problems etc"

This is from an at leat 8 year old bulletin from"Sixth Echelon"
Stan Poole..doesnt seem to be selling over the Internet.

I dont see that one in Portrayl Press catalogue which is old as well.

I would rather place any order in one go due to overseas post.

regards tony

Hi Tony

I have the TM9-1801 and the TM9-1802A as well as TM 9-801 and the 2 parts books
To date any info that I have needed was found in these manuals
I am unfamiliar with TM10-1563 so some info may be repeated as well
Hope this helps

This is a very good book. If you see one, grab it.

The TM10-1563 is a very good GM manual. I use that one most of the time as it is a mid-war sort of manual and has all the info you usually need in one place.

TM 10-1562 Parts Book and TM 1-1563 Maintenance Manual came in several editions. So far I have found the following dates...

July 1st 1942.

August 17th 1942.

November 15th 1942

January 15th 1943.

May 1st 1943.

The first four are basically the same except for the print edition date on the cover, however the last one is interesting as it covers the first open cab trucks. TM 10-1562/1563 were the last TM 10's for the CCKW as they were replaced in April 1943 by TM 9 series.
