WW2 Fire Extinguisher

Can any body help with a detail photo of a WW2 vehicle CO2 fire extinguisher ? and confirm that the colour was red in US service, not black ?

Any help appreciated.

I know this is not the same but.... my M20 armored car has as original equipment a 4 lb CO2 extinguisher
I believe it to be an original in that the oldest pressure test date is '43.
When I sand blasted it prior to paint there was no evidence any green or OD color, only red primer and red paint ( several coats)
I repainted it red ,and have a repro decal label on
I have been displaying the vehicle regularly at various shows, and to date no one has questioned the color red as opposed to OD
All the black and white period photos I have seen are of no use in determining wheather they are red or green

All my original WW2 CO2 extinguishers are red - some tomato red others are a maroon red.

Thank you gentlemen, most helpful. Do you have any thoughts on Beige/Brown extinguishers in use by the US military in WW2 ?

We Brits had an entirely different colour scheme to you guys with colours assigned to specific types of content, this doesnt appear to have been international.

Appreciate your input.

Well I got to read TM9-1799, and I'm now fully qualified to service and make repairs to a variety of different manufacturers products. I'm even able to state with confidence that if an extinguisher is shell damaged it should be discraded and not weld repaired!

But am I any the wiser of the body colour of a combat zone CO2 extinguisher ?. Am i **** !

I'm off to see what FM 5-20 Field Camouflage brings.

I have looked throught the WW2 colour photographs again on:

and note that on two shots of aircraft refuelling tankers/trailers, the fire extinguishers appear to be painted OD.

There is one shot of a red CO2 unit on a towmotor tug.

If you haven't already seen these colour pictures, you'll be amazed at the clarity and vibrancy of some of them- like they were taken just yesterday.
