You might have a vac. leak could be 1 of several gasketed areas,....or... the accelerator pump in the carb is faulty......or....fuel pump is weak.....or ... fuel line obstruction.
Lots of possibilities Rook...eliminate them one at a time
Was your carb rebuilt by an experienced shop?
Rebuilding a carb isn't rocket sceince but....some of these old soldiers have carbs that require new shafts and plates ( poss. vac leak ), there are several passages that will plug with rust ( esp. the cast iron ones )the accel. pump bore is another problem area.
All the "gaskets between the gov.needed ? " you're heat isolator spacer must be missing....or....Bubba....
Hope this helps

Carb leaks
Hey Rook 45,
Nice to see another Wisconsin "Badger" on the CCKW site. I chuckled when I read your inquiry and you refered to the "FOOT FEED".
For the rest of you collectors around the world, the term "Foot Feed" is a universal rural reference to what engineers call "the accelerator pedal". Any farm kid around here knows what the "foot feed" refers to.
I chuckled at the reference since it made me remember a first date with a a young lady who I later married. She told be to ease up on the "foot feed" indicating I was driving too fast. Farm girl, raised on a tractor, she's a keeper.
Anyone else every heard the term?
Sorry, I guess I stole your thread about carb issues.

If you suspect a manifold or carb leak, disconnect the fanbelt and start the engine. In an open air setting, take a propane torch and turn on the gas. Do not light it!!! Point the nozzle closely at possible sources of leaks and listen to the engine. If it speeds up, you have a leak there.
This works especially well with the intake ports at the head. Don't overlook them either.
You could also have a leak in the wiper line. Try disconnecting that and plugging the hole in the manifold.
You could also have a booster problem (unlikely) or a leak in the hose connections to it an on it.

Hi Rook
The carb mounting on my CCKW is from the top of the intake manifold as follows; Gasket
Heat isolator ( 3/8" thick fiber/resin composition )
Gasket
Governor
Gasket
Carb.
There is difference between some of the gaskets ( vac. bleeds etc ) especially those between the carb and gov.
If you need any of these items I think Joel Gopan has/had them avail Frank von Rosensteil may also have some gaskets Bob at VoV may be another possibility
Hope this helps
