Proper CCKW paint

Post by KAE »

Hi all,

I would like to paint my CCKW in the correct color, so please, can someone suggest me where to buy proper one in Europe (because of connections I prefer England, Italy or Austria).
Thank you in advance!

Regards,

Hi Goran,
I don't know the definite answer to Your question, I've been thinking a lot about it myself. In Scandinavia some enthusiasts use a very dark olive shade, I don't know if I remember correctly, it might have been RAL 6014, but I think it's too dark and too olive. I'm going to order some paint from the Italian company thelongolivedrabline, it has been positively commented. I would have loved to try TM9ordnance from the USA but unfortunately they cannot deliver overseas.

Hi Arthur!

Thank you very much for your answer!
I was also tried to order paint from US but, as you said, they do not deliver overseas...I will try to find someone else but LongOliveDrabLine, they are 7 hours away from me.
Thank you once again!

Regards,
Goran

Kae, there are several good paint supplies here in the UK, but I think you will have trouble asking for a RAL specification colour.

WW2 paint colours have been discussed at length on many forums, and it is generally accepted that there is no "Correct" colour for Olive Drab, such was the demand for supply during the war years. Remember green dye was in such demand, that even some cigarette packets changed from a green ball to a red ball, as a savings measure.

RAL designation of course has a German Origin and they weren't exactly keen to record or standardise Allied colours at the time.

Chose the colour you like, there is no right or wrong.
