Serial numbers
I was looking at the CCKW database here and noticed some irregularities with the serial numbers versus the year of mfg.
I would suggest that everyone take a look at the database and verify the serial number they have listed agrees with the frame number and dataplate if the vehicle has one.
Thanks

I already tough the serial was from 1941 .
In the Netherlands we have a vehicle registration paper with al cars.
When I bought this truck this paper says the truck is from 1942.
This is an official paper witch cant be chanced without a lot of costs and trouble with the authority.
So for me its 1941 for the authority its 1942.
Chancing the list would be nice ( I move up a little )

Dates
Adrie, I have the same problem with my 1942 352 B1.
Originating from France the Official date on the paperwork is Jan 1st 1942, but the experts tell me that March 42 is more reasonable for the chassis number. I too have two dates.

I have the same problem. Mine is titled as a 1941 but with a 129XXX serial number it is a 1942. When I was titling it I took documentation with me proving that it was made in 1942. The final word was " We don't care, that is what the last title said and we can't change it"

look at mine on the database... it is registered as a 1944 with a 14,000 serial number. After a little digging once I got it and Frank von Rosensteil looking it over, it looks more like a 140,000 serial number on the frame. I just need to work the numbers over a little to get the correct number. In NJ, it is real process to change the year and serial number. Right now I am trying to correct my Dodge WC51 and WC52 -- that is easier since I have the reprint of the original build sheet from the Chrysler Musuem in MI. Wish there was something like that from Chevy.

That is a common problem and not with just these old trucks. I had a 42 GPW jeep that was titled as a 44 in the state of Texas. A lot of it has to do with lost titles and people getting a new title , which was a lot easier in the 40's and 50's as many people built cars out of junk yards and the title restrictions were a lot easier than they are today.

When I got my GPW, the guy told me it was a 42. It had a rotary headlight switch. So I asked the 503 experts and they told me June 44 is when they went to the rotary so I registered it as a 44. Eventually, I found the correct numbers and it was a June 42 Jeep with the wrong HL switch on it so I changed it to a push-pull. After that, I got into the jeep 3 times and wacked my leg on the switch 2 times.... It now has the rotary again....
