Post by ERB72 »

Hello All,Has anyone managed to change the seals on a water pump? what is the only way to cure a leak that appears to coming thru the impeller shaft seal(when the engine has been run and warmed up when switched off its leaks badly) when running it is almost sealed and minimal leakage.ANY tips on" how to"or is the best to try and get N.O.S. pump????

I thought NAPA sells them new, others on the board should be able to help you out.

Good luck!

what i can remember is that i repaired my water pump using a kit supplied by Ross Prince in Australia.

It included a new impellor, and did the trick, pretty sure the impellor shaft gets old and buggers the seal, so make sure you replace it

I also remember, that the pulley is flimsy and i warped it getting it off, and had to order a new one off him, make sure you follow the correct procedure as detailed in the manual

WATER PUMP REPAIRS

Post by ERB72 »

THE WATER PUMP REPAIR IS NOT DIFFICULT ,ITS JUST NOT THAT EASY TO GET IT RIGHT ESPECIALLY FIRST TIME.THE PULLY CAN REQUIRE THE ODD CURSE TO GET OFF THE SHAFT. THE LITTLE SWEETENER WITH E.P. IS THEY DO THE JOB (ITS WHAT THEY DO ALL DAY) FOR ABOUT £40 PLUS VAT.. :D BUT THE REALLY GOOD BIT . :D ... ITS A LIFETIME GUARANTEE  SO IF YOU HAVNT GOT ENOUGH JOBS TO DO ON THE REBUILD FINE ,BUT THIS IS ONE YOU CAN LEAVE TO EXPERTS AND IT WILL BE AS GOOD AS YOUR OWN WORK ,MAY BE EVEN A LITTLE BIT BETTER :!: UNLESS YOU KNOW AN "INN GIN EAR" AND THERE IS A LOT OF THOSE ABOUT ....APPARENTLY  BUT YOU ARE DEAD RIGHT ABOUT REX .HE OFFERS A GREAT SERVICE TO LOTS OF US AND IS ALWAYS VERY HELPFUL AND FORTHCOMING WITH HIS TIPS AND ADVICE AND IS A RECOMMENDED SOURCE FOR LOTS AND LOTS OF PARTS
