Floor mat.

Post by Matt »

Does anyone have an original closed cab floor mat I could use as a pattern? or if they don't want to sell some good pictures would work ok.

Frank Von Rosenstiel had some NOS but when I asked him a few months ago all were sold.

Any suggestions? I have a guy lined up to start making these complete with the correct backing,I just need the pattern to start with!

I have one in the Wrapper somewhere, but do not have a clue where it is.I will let you know when I find it. It may be stored with my NOS closed Cab floorboards.

Thanks Joel! there's no great hurry as I'm doing the firewall pad and roof liner first but from an original mat I can get 100% accurate repros made.

I do need a floor pan for my truck as well.....!

If you are making repros of the roof liner and the firwall pads I would love to buy a set from you if you get enough of them made. Same goes for the rubber mats.

Thanks to everyone for your input.Bob I will post here when I get going, the firewall pad is the first thing I will be doing,I hope to make a start next week.the rubber mat will be next depending on getting an original to copy,I am also making a start on the steel kick panels for closed cabs. where possible the trim parts will include all the clips etc.

I don't think the open cabs had a rubber mat.I hope to get an original firewall pad from an open cab soon which I can use as a pattern.

I would welcome any further information on any of these parts,if you have originals I would love to see photos, also any suggestions for other things that are needed which I might be able to make or get made.

Is this for the closed cab CCKW?? If it is, is it the same as for the closed cab Chevy?? I have two (2) NOS mats, but I'll have to check the part number on them. I seem to recall they were for the Chevy....

The G-506 Chevrolet has different location for the Transmission Shift Lever, and The G-506 Transfer Shift Levers are also in a slightly different location than The G-508 GMC CCKW. The Floor mat for the GMC will not fit the Chevrolet for obvious reasons. Another Detail is that the later Closed Cab GMC had a sliding Floor Seal for the X-Fer Shift Levers, the early G-508 Closed Cab had a boot similar to Jeeps. Allis not going to be easy. I believe the mats were eliminated before the change. It was a Combat Vehicle, and the mat was not necessary.

These mats have been for sale at Beltring in the last few years, they were original, with correct part number, made in Fort Worth. Texas.
Will keep a look out at Beltring this year.
I even cut one to fit my open cab CCKW, it just did not look right, so I took it out.
