Are the Chevy and Banjo GMC axles identical? I know that the fixtures for the rear axle are different cause the springs are different. But what about the hubs and drums, brake parts, axle shafts and differentials? and the front axles - are there mechanical differences?
It there a difference between the rear and front differentials?
Thanks,
Daniel

Differences between CCKW and Chev (not DUKW):
U-joint yokes are different sizes
Steering arm different
Brake flex hose length
All differentials are the same
All bearings the same
All seals the same
All drums the same as an assy (either dimountable or not)
All brakes on a given axle position the same
All wheel cylinders on a given axle position the same
DUKW differences:
Front spindle
Front inner WB seal
Pinion seal
Pinion retainer
I think I got everything
Hope this helps

Are the axle shafts the same? Seems like the front would be the same. The Ord-9 says there are three different rear shafts for the banjo axles:
3660037 Intermediate Left
3660038 Intermediate Right
3659699 Rear
Am I correct in assuming that the rear shafts are identical and there is a short and a long in the intermediate axle?
The Chevy Ord-9 lists two shafts:
3660094 LH
3660094 RH
There must be a short and a long here too? The big question is; Are the Chevy shafts interchangeable with the CCKW in any way?
Thanks!

Front Axles
I just took a closer look at the Ord-9; There are some differences in the part numbers between the Chevy and GMC (banjo) FRONT axle assemblies. The parts I found to have different numbers are:
The steering ARM (and the NUTS that hold it on)
Some of the differential pinion GEARS
The steering knuckle SEAL and RETAINERS (the felt seal)
The right hand knuckle SUPPORT HOUSING
The Hub
The brake shoe LINK (or pivot PIN)
The WASHER (or LOCK) on the drove flange
All other part numbers are the same. Does anyone know if these parts are physically the same (interchangeable) even though they have differing part numbers?
Thanks!
