throttle - is it of any use?

Post by sixbysix »

I have a disconnected throttle cable on my 353 soft top ... vehicle starts fine without it - just with choke and a few pumps on the pedal ...so can anyone tell me what its used for? Cold weather?.....

In our modern day use ...cold weather warm ups is the most likely need for a throttle ( I rarely use mine as well )
However....as designed it use would also have been used control engine speeds ie; for certain PTO operations....and to allow your boot a chance to cool off during heavy load operating cycles...... ( given the exhaust manifolds proximity to the floor pan)

Hope this helps
