Can it be dismantled in one day?

Post by arthur.m »

Have been slowly restoring my L2 Dump Truck and I'm now stuck with some broken/rotten/missing parts. Then somebody offered me the front half of their open-cab CCKW, with engine running, everything in place, ex-Norway Army. Sad thing, they are converting the truck into fire-wood trailer, but at least I can have the front-end. Now the problem. The truck is located almost a thousand miles away from me, and I'm facing a situation where I only will have one day time to take any parts I need. Some kind of lifting equipment will be available, not sure about electricity. Can it be done? Cab, engine, other sheet metal, tank, winch...has anybody done it? And yes, it will possibly be raining or snowing.

We made it, in one day. Here's #533610B2 at the beginning of the day. Efforts were made to move her to a workshop, but middle axle had frozen brakes, and she was to be dismantled outdoors.

Next morning saw her half scrapped, the front axle loose. Most parts were stored in the shop van, which is waiting to be transported to a friend of mine. "Automotive repair, load B", DOD 4-45. The ring mount will be sold to a local guy.
