Did you know you can make a remote starter for a CCKW or Chev with a pair of Vice-Grip plyers?
Clamp the plyers onto the arm by the starter that is part of the linkage going over the bellhousing.
You can push the plyers down to engage the starter.
WARNINGS: Make sure it is in neutral AND make sure you remove the plyers after. I opened the hood on the Bomb Truck one day to check the oil and found the plyers I had left there for about 100 miles. I was lucky they were still there...
The non-curved jawed plyers work best

And oh by the way:
If you have a starter out and are testing it:
DO NOT EVER PUSH THE STARTER BUTTON THE THE STARTER WITH YOUR FINGER OR THUMB WITH POWER APPLIED. The pinion gear with be thrown forward and will pull the lever with it squishing your appendage between the lever and the button.. Ouch!

Great info. Often I have wanted to start my truck , while working on it, without having to climb into the cab. Thanks Doc.
I like the little bit about squashing your appendages. Kind of like the old M1 Thumb, except this is a CCKW Thumb.
