Whilst messing around with both my trucks I noticed that the oil dipsticks are of different lengths.after nearly a heart attack thinking one was 6" shorter and maybe I've been running the one with the longest dipstick in with very little oil in the sump I measured the pipe which goes onto the side of the sump and they are relevant to the size of the dipstick FEW.
The French rebuilt engine has the longer Dipstick, Both look the same so beware you don't put the wrong Dipstick in your lump if you have several trucks or you'll end up being a Dipstick
Interesting observation. As I only have one truck, not a problem here.

There were at least three different dipsticks used on CCKW's during WW2. Chappers, are the sumps on both your trucks the same or does one have the earlier one piece sump??
