Gentalman, How much should I expect to pay for an original and servicable hydrovac for a 1942 G506?

You will usually pay $100's of dollars for one and it will still be of questionable safety. Unless you have one rebuilt so that you know it has new parts and has been rebuilt to Mfg's specs, it is a gamble and remember it if fails when you need it most.....

Who has rebuild kits for them. Mine will work sometimes and then sometimes its like im stepping on a rock when I try to slow down. I assume its the hydrovac not working as ive been told thats what its like trying to stop these things on straight brakes.

There are places that advertise in Hemmings Motor News that rebuild them. Most are out in western US as in CA.
I believe, based upon the Chev that it would stop relatively well w/o the booster IF you could get and keep the brakes adjusted up all the time. I think you run out of juice from the master to feed the 6 wheel cylinders.
I have 2 G085 Chevys w/o boosters and they stop just fine. As a matter of fact, I think the Bomb Truck Chev would be somewhat dangerous with it as she has a tendency to lock up the rears on a hard stop
