Parade

Howdy! I drove my 352 up to Indianapolis to be in a parade last Saturday. It was a 60 mile round trip. My truck has not been more then 3 or 4 miles from home. The truck ran ok but I developed what looks like a leak in the rear main. And the brakes kept building up pressure to where I would be forced to pull over and bleed off the brakes. I think the old rubber brake lines are "valveing". I am talking about the short lines between the frame and brake cylinders. My question is; where can I get new brake hose. And- seal, gaskets, etc, for my oil leak???

The brake hoses are a std part from a good parts store.

Oil leaks....? It is a cckw after all. Rear mains are a common leak. The seal design is not that great.

I'd be more concerned if you didn't have an oil leak, At least you know you've got oil in your engine.
As DR Deuce said most CCKW's have some sort of a leak.

The Doctor is right for sure as I for one, always check to see how the leaks are before I check their levels  and you can also see if anything bad is happening inside by the colour of the leaking oil........................!

Colour of leaking oil.............

Have you got a colour reference chart, be a BIG help rather than having to crawl around inspecting things!

Colour chart?

Well if it's black then it's probably engine oil and your back main oil seal is either tired or not sealing right. First check your engine oil via the dipstick and compare it with the oil coming from underneath. Gearbox oil tends to be a stronger smelling oil and its much thicker when rubbed between the fingers.

I once saw a Diamond T with a bucket hanging underneath to catch the dripping oil

:? :?

Owning a military vehicle comes with having oil leaks or is it the other way around

I agree with Doc, if it soes not leak oil, you don't have any oil. The German WWII BMW radial aircraft engines were that way. If they were not leaking oil you had better check the oil level.
