The GMC CCKW

Hello list,
Can you tell me how to decipher the five digits between cckw 352-and-A1 to find out any further information on this truck? I read a chevy site that had a fancy breakdown on where it's was made ect...VOV

It would help if we know what those numbers are 352 is short wheel base 145" cargo , A = w/o winch 1 = split type axles and the numbers in between is your ser # which will tell you the month and year of manufacture give me those and you will get the prize

Your truck was built August 1941,the starting ser # for the month is 48,927 and ending with 52,794 so I would say yours was built at the very end of August And as far as where I believe it would be General Motors Truck & Coach, Yellow Truck & Coach Division , Pontiac Mich. As far as del date goes if you have your trucks nomenclature plate it would be stamped there if it is not there it's anyones quess

Thanks Jim, I now know what I am the proud owner of! I am waiting on the new fuel pump to arrive so I can see her do some sustained running. My first plan is to get er running correctly , completely going thru all the brake hydraulics, linings,u joints, hub seals, shaft seals,ect.. Then the sand blast body work stuff. I am not too sure where to find the various parts I will need such as seals tires ect..anyone out there can guide my in that direction? Also can I post some pics on here so I can share the before pics with all of you?

Jim, where on the vechicle is tghe plate to be found? What does it look like? What info does it reveal?

Hi Rich,

Sounds like a nice truck you have! Just one thing which might help with tracking down it's history,before you sandblast the body I'd suggest rubbing down the hood,bumpers,tailgate and doors by hand as you stand a good chance of uncovering original markings.

CCKW parts are generally not hard to find and this forum is THE place to ask all the !!
