Hi All,
I'm new to this forum and thought i would ask a question about my GMC 353 Airportable Tipper exhaust.
I have just fitted a new exhaust and inlet manifolds and was also replacing the exhaust down pipe, but have not been able to make the new pipe fit the manifold.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Martin
Greetings from Canada. Glad to see you on this forum. Is that the same GMC that we drove from your place to Beltring? If so then that's the one you delivered us to Royden Hall and hit the gate post on the way in.
Bricks everywhere.
Cheers,
Barry

Hi Barry,
Hello from England!
Yes thats the one, I'm sure it's not my driving the truck just seems to like running into things.
The GMC has been very usefull over the years, having the tipping body has been great.
You have reminded me to reply to your e-mail.

Hi Martin
Welcome
I too have a 353 airportable
I assume you have a winch model.
Do you have the correct manifold ?
Do you have the correct exhaust pipe.?
I am not 100% sure but I always thought the exhaust pipe was different depending on winch or non winch.
In that the winch model was slightly longer and bent to avoid the pto winch shaft. I don't have a non winch truck avail. to compare the two.
Maybe some other users on the forum would know for sure.
Hope this helps
John

Hi John,
Yes the truck has a winch, The exhaust mainifold is a new one but is made in the 1950's. The problem seems to be where they have welded a flared peace of tube over the pipe to locate the three bolt flange.
The flange 45 deg does not fit the exaust corectly and ends up cutting the gasket as you bolt the flange up.
The only over problem is the pipe seems to come very close to the front sring hanger.
Great pictures of the airportable!
