Hi folks,
the purists amongst you who read my post about repairing my Carter carb will be pleased to hear it seems I have tracked down an original
Zenith.

Thing is, I have a choice of 2, described as

1) round top

2) square top (model vs-146 id number 2137474)

I know there is a alloy body and a cast body type

Is there any "better" one to pick?.

my truck is a 3/44 model.

regards tony

From my understanding the early Zenith carburators were die cast and the later a regular cast iron. The early carbs have a real smooth finish to the outside, but as far as preformance it should not make any difference.
Just as long as it fits and works giving you the power you desire.

Given your build date I believe the cast iron later model would be the most correct.
Hope this helps

What is the difference between them?

Hi Fenando and welcome
The easiest way to tell ,I think is the later model has a CAST IRON body.
You shouldn't rely only on the build date of your truck to identify certain items . Because as you know these old soldiers went thru many repairs and upgrades as well.
Hope this helps
