MV Mag technical tip this month

There was a Tech tip or Q & A in MV Mag this month where a guy with a CCKW was asking about the clutch and Steve Turchet answered.

Steve recommended a "Velvet Touch" clutch. I have heard of these clutches but not for that od-ball CCKW/DUKW 11.5 inch clutch.

Has anyone ever heard of another clutch other than the 50's Long clutch which is no longer available for a CCKW.

I wanted to do a sanity check before I wrote to MV Mag suggesting that that person come to this site to ask questions CCKW.

Thanks

Don't know Doc

I always send my pressure plate and disc out for rebuild, and I get my same cores back with all new parts :)
So I don't know about the avail. of the replacements.
Maybe you could ask Steve T for more info about "the velvet touch "
Hope this helps
John

I got my clutch rebuilt here in San Antonio in a shop that has been in business in the same place since 1937 and the old man there is real familiar with CCKW clutches, He did a great job.

I had one rebuilt too and they screwed it up! Useless now because they did not follow the manual procedure with shims. I did not know about the shims at the time. Do now!

The question is: Is there another clutch other than the reported 50's Long clutch that fits. The clutch is so unusual that I believe you options today are limited to the original only.
