Many listers are probably wary of mods.
This was shown to me by a long-time MV owner and truck driver.
He advised to cut in half the metal bracket that ensures the front wheel
drive lever is engaged at the same time as the low range.
By doing this one is able to engage low range, without front wheel drive.
The stated reason was much better manouvreability in confined spaces,
ie logging roads, or workshops.
I did this cut with oxy and cleaned with the grinder. You cant notice it
The vehicle IS much easier at low speed.
Originally I think it was to ensure heavliy laden vehicles had the drive evenly distributed, as mine is mostly empty , that is not an issue.
This is one of the very few mods I have done on my vehicle
( although it has a huge list of previous mods)
The other one I am happy with is replacing corroded fasteners
with Stainless steel...I left any fastener remotely original stay
if possible, however had to grind or oxy hundreds when I first dismantled everything. I used galvanised fasteners to reassemle, but 6 years later,
many of them have started to corrode as well, it starts and works its way out from the hole. I live right by the ocean and corrosion is a constant battle for me.
As most modern MV have stainless fasteners I think it is appropriate.
They do cost A LOT...........tony

Thanks for the great suggestions. I strongly agree with the use of stainless steel bolts when replacing old fastners.
