I had my buddy weld some on. It's much easier to grind off welds if I change my mind than to fill in bolt holes. Again, this is one of the many things where there is no "correct" way. This would have been done in the field any way possible. I'd just say the quicker the better. Slap it together, weld it on.
I tried to pattern mine after that famous Red Ball express photo; heavy bracing with a back splash guard. Mine are heavy enough that I climb on them to do engine work. We put loops on them for straps but have never needed them. I've driven a couple thousand miles with them, on and off road and the ONLY time I got a can to fly out is when I was pulling off the road at 40mph and hit a big foot deep hole maybe 2' wide by 3' long. I got one of the 4 cans to fly out and it was the only empty one.

Gas Can Holders

Post by Cat Man »

Here are a few more idea's for extra can holders behind the front bumper.

I like the use of the regular GI brackets. We have seen these in single and in dual arrangments on different trucks.

Just about anything goes when it comes to flat iron fabrications.
