The GMC CCKW

Does anyone know -

1. The capacity of the dump-truck hydraulic pump (gallons per minute), so I can match up to a similar capacity pump for a hydraulic crane I am fitting to my CCW?

2. The RPM that the dump-truck PTO ran at, for a given engine RPM - also, the same for the winch PTO.

3. The dimensions of the dump hydraulic cylinder (inside diameter & length of stroke)

These bits of information will be a big help

The inside dia. of the cyl is 7 inches but I don't know the stroke lenght
Have you looked in TM9-1801 and ORD 9 parts manual ?

Sorry it's taken a while to reply - I've had login problems.

The manuals I have don't give these specs. I was hoping someone might have had first hand experience - the key point being the difference in operating RPM between the two PTO units.

I've looked at all the sources I have too.

I think the only way to tell the pump input speed (without taking the PTO off and counting the teeth on the drive and driven gears) is to use a hand held photo tachometer. Set the engine speed with the hand throttle and accuratly measure engine RPM with a digital meter. Don't change the engine RPM and measure the pto shaft speed - then calculate the speed ratio from the two numbers.

Photo tachs are available are reasonable prices these days. Or trade beer with your buddies in the shop next door to borrow theirs.

I think you're right.
I have my own winch PTO here, but I'll have to hunt out a truck with a dump unit to compare.
