Speedo Adapter

Hello 41's CCKW onwers,
Do I need a speedo adapter like this one in the manual I have?
Manual (TM10-1501) to correct the speedometer reading?
There is not text associated to this picture in the manual, looks like it is lost...
Please le me know if any of you have such kind of adapter or it is only to easy the cable routing to the transfer case.
My truck has a split type transfer case.
