The GMC CCKW

This maybe a long shot, but does anyone posess a picture or pictures of a correctly restored early or preferably late CCKW engine compartment. Not looking for pics from the manuals I have those. Need detailed shots of a "correctly restored" CCKW under the hood.

You probably already know, but

The A5 sized maintenance manual has excellent detail, (not the service manual)

I think it is tm9-801

(sorry not near to it at the moment)

Hi Tony, I have the 1942 printing of the big manual. My problem is I have a 3/45 DOD so there are a lot of things that are different in the engine compartment. Even the 1944 dated TM9-801 does not show all the changes. Anybody want to trade early for late manual???

I restored my 2-44,model 1619 in 2005 and I have all photos of its restoration.Do you need pics under the hood?My TM9-801 is from april 1944.Can I help ?

Please consider posting pictures of your restoration on this forum. Especially the under the hood pictures would be helpful to many. Seldom do we see pictures of a restored engine compartment. It would be appreciated.

My CCKW is also a 1619 but delivered 4-44.

I do not wish to stir up the mood conserning your choise of color, Your eninge looks very fresh in grey, an the practicallity of beeing able to identify leaks etc is superior.
But when it comes to authenticallity Glossy dark green color close to "English racing green" was the orginal GMC engine color used on both comercial and military engines. As far as i know, this color was used until 45/46 when it was discontinued. This color was also applied on the clutch bellhousing, but not on the gearbox. It has also been examples of Ord. depots, and field repair were army OD green has been applied.

Engines rebuilt by Norwegian army was painted glossy light gray.
(Norwegian rebulilt Drive train components was painted glossy black)

Other NATO countries, or user of CCKW's have used other colors such as black, and darker shades of gray.

Electric components such as starter, generator, coil, horn, regulator, and distrib. was black, semi gloss. as well as oilfilter and airfilter house.
