The GMC CCKW

As a new owner of a cckw I am finding so much I don't know that I am a little bit overwhelmed. I took the gas tank off today and to my surprise it had two fuel lines going into it. I do not yet have the right manual for the operation of it. I have the ST5 shop van. Both of these gas lines going into the tank have the long tubes going into the tank. Both were connected and both when disconnected had gas dripping from them. I have not traced the lines down yet as there is only so much I can do it one day. So, I have heard of two lines going out, one for outgoing and one for ingoing or return but not on a WWII vehicle before. But as I said this is my first CCKW. Is this a later modification?

Many of the shop van type trucks had/have another gasoline engine inside the shop, usually under the front workbench. This was for lights and power tools. These photos are from the welding truck which had a flat head vee 8 generator welder.

That would require a seperate fuel line from the same tank. Two lines, and a common fuel tank. One line to the truck engine and one to the auxilliary engine.

I will take some pics soon. I have been on a tight time line and no one to help till next weekend.
The shop van is total bare in the back. All you can do is guess as to what was where. There is a linolium floor over the deck so what was once there is covered up. I bought the van to convert it to a replica of Patton's HQ van. I play Patton for a lot of different functions.
I will post pics of for another reason. I am not at all sure what is under the hood. I have only the experience of a 1/2 ton dodge CC and have never even thought about doing something like this. It is a totally new learning experience for me. I have found it is better to admit I know very little which is true and then folks will tell me a lot trying to help me. That is a great way to learn and make friends. When you post to me go into detail please. Assume I know nothing and you will be right about 98% of the time. (grin)

Other fuel connection was used i think to supply heater fitted to the inside of shop van body, at the front.
