What do all of you do to protect your original Zinc data plates.

What I am specifically asking is that my dataplates are in good shape and readable but a little chalky. Is there a protective coating that any of you use to cover the plate so that it does not deteriorate.

I was wondering if you use some type of clear over them?

What is the pre-treater?

If you have had good results please list the specific product.

I would prefer a satin finish to gloss.

Bill,
I think you could clean them with fine steel wool (0000)and a prep-sol type of product prior to spaying with clear laquer
Krylon has "semi-gloss"
I use Martin-Senuor "Kleenz-Eazy" avail at NAPA gallon quantity only ,approx 60 bucks .....but I use it to clean EVERYTHING prior to painting PPG and Du-Pont also have a similar product.
What are you using for paint prep?

Hope this helps
John
