On the various filters under the hood, such as the air filter, a red dot is painted on one side. Are these supposed to all point in the same direction?

Colour Marks
Neil, in European use it was common practice for post war armies to colour spot "Service Points", this was an "aid memoir" to the driver for his 1st echelon maintenance, rather than a Fit This Way sign.
