The GMC CCKW

My 353 came with slat style mudflaps. They were not installed on the truck when received.

I have installed them and am not sure which side of the wood mount bar they go on.

The rear of the bar keeps them from floating back and striking the tire but they will hit the back of the tail light. Putting them on the front of the bar will keep them away from the light wiring but will allow them to bang the tire.

There is no info in the TM(s) I have about these at all.

Is there anyone out there that has these and where were they mounted.

I have placed them on the back for now as they do not appear to have been hitting the tire so I figured they were behind the bar.

They mount to the rear of the block ( or at least mine are like that ...or we could both be wrong )

I have the same mudflaps as you guys and they are too mounted to the rear of the timber blocks. Surely 3 of us cannot be wrong!

Don't be too sure of that.

I mounted mine with the straps toward the front of the vehicle.

Looks like I need to turn them around.

My powers of observation have failed me miserably

Of course, your right, so any 'discharge', especially mud from the tyres runs down the flap instead of becoming lodged in between the gaps and on the straps.

We live and learn!

While I could not tell whether they were on the front of back of the mount block it was easy to tell from the oil and grease staining and gravel impact marks that the way they were pictured (straps forward) is the way the Norwegian Military had them mounted on the truck.

I will turn them around so they are proper.
