ADDING A WENCH TO A NON-WENCH "A2"

Post by Troy »

My friend is trying to a wench to the front of a non-wench 1942 CCKW LWB, we are in need of detailed sketches or photo's of the front mounts. Can anybody post or email any detailed pictures or sketches? Thanks!

You will need the spring mounts for the winch model.

Thank you Dr Deuce.
Here is a photo of one frame extension he made. I have been looking for close up photos of a original winch truck.

Because of the thickness of the frame extension, the front (shackle mount) has to compensate. on a Banjo truck

Its next to impossible to put a winch on a non wnch truck. the spring shackles are moved forward among other things.

Why would you want to bubba something that was never built that way in the first place?

good luck with your project :?

His truck has been disassembled for a long time, allot of the cross-members had rotted and had to be made and some pieces are missing.

I don't understand why doing this. Why not just buy another Jimmy with winch already installed? They are cheap (usually between 5000 an 7000 Euros) and all variants are easy availlable on the european market.

this post was accidentaly sent as new post

my truck is a non-winch model (I believe)

but has winch fitted

they were all done by Transfield Constructions in Australia

it does not look original

i knew nothing about CCKW when I acquired.

now I know more, I would always go for max originality

CCKW owners/buyers are very fussy about this

unless u want to use the winch, or dont care about selling the truck

or make sure can convert back to original

you look like you are doing a good job though.

i can post pics if u want

I need a wench for my truck too. She could clean it and change the geal oil and do maintenance.

This was some project, congrats on your winch install. More time than I would want to spend, but very nice results. It's nice to see it is actually possible to do a clean job, although difficult.
