I just got this video on winterizing vehicles, thought you’d all enjoy seeing it if you have not already.

Towards the end of the film they show the installation of a coolant heater on a 6x6. It has a vent stack that protrudes up through a hole cut in the hood – has anyone ever seen a hood with this hole in it? Does anyone have a truck outfitted with any of this winterization gear?

Also, on the same trucks that they have these heaters, the bows seem to be higher in the back than the front – giving the canvas tarpaulin a hiked up look. Any ideas as to why these trucks are outfitted this way?

Thanks!
Daniel

This video is interesting. I like the gasoline heaters, you don't see those much anymore (just on old VWs).

My truck runs well, but I went to a football game last week in it and I can definitely say it does not like the cold. She was running a bit rough, but watching the video gave me some ideas. I do have a magnetic block heater that I might put on it just to help it with starting when it is below 30 degrees.

Watching the winters in the video makes me appreciate global warming, I'm enjoying the warmer winters than the ones pictured in the movie, but the truck still definitely does not like the cold.
