Close cab - lower back panel

Post by m38cdnbill »

Hello All,

Does anyone knows if it's possible to find a new lower back panel for a Chevrolet / GMC close cab? Dynacorn Classic bodies inc http://www.dynacornclassicbodies.com/gm_models2.html builds complete replacement cabs and parts but unfortunaly for models from 1947 upwards.

Our model of cabs are the same from 1939 to 1946 and perhaps someone on this board knows where it is possible to obtain a lower back panel that fits our model cabin. I know Jim Carter parts but it sells only sections that do not fit very well.

Cheers

Guy,
I don't know of any 'Repro" or replacements panels avail.
Depending on where the "bad" parts are you can fabricate some items
How bad is yours ? I might have some sections here .

I have purchased entire vehicles before just to get some useable 'tin"
My Chevy has a complete rear panel removed from just such a "donor" and even then I still had to fab a patch panel for the center section ( you know the " rust in the usual places " )

hope this helps

Thanks guys for the information.

Works on my truck goes well. Actualy, I'm working on the cab and as most of it, the lower back panel is cut just below the rib. I gave the contract to a small machine shop to manufacture press rollers to exactly reproduce this back panel with the proper rib curve. If all goes well, I'm going to make a partial new sheet panel by April and fix up on the cab shortly after.

I keep you in touch

Cheers
