Re: Hood Numbers
James,
To my knowledge ,unlike "jeeps" and a few other HMVs , there isn't any published info linking chassis numbers to hood numbers or engine numbers as well
And even if there were such a list which set of numbers could you rely on, if you reference the article ( concerning Post War French and English CCKW rebuilds) in the next to last issue of AM you would see why.
Sorry
John

Re: Hood Numbers
If your truck is early, the manuals would tell what truck SN went with what 'group' of hood numbers. Not the exact number but better than random

Re: Hood Numbers
Wow, 7 45 that's a late build indeed
Mine is a 4 45 ......Norway return ( with no hood numbers whatsoever)
Bill's CCKW is later than mine I don't how it compares to your build date
He may chime with an answer.
Cheers

Re: Hood Numbers
Hello All,
Mine was a 6-45 build. No verifiable hood numbers. I don't believe that by that time that they were painting hood numbers Blue Drab. AM-850-5 states that.
James' truck is reflected in the owner database. It is listed under another owner by serial number. The only older one listed is Doc Brit's.

Re: Hood Numbers
Gunny, we have the same models. Mine is:
DOD 7-45
S# 353 538120-2
Hood# 4732169 S
Our trucks were originally produced chassis only. The cargo bed of my truck was produced and installed in Germany after the war.

Chris

Re: Hood Numbers
the hood number on my truck was still in the blue paint after wet sanding. The truck I have has a home built flat bed on it now. planning on building a wood style bed for it .
