I need to go out and buy a battery and I was curious what brands and model number of batteries you guys use.

Mine is a DELCO 717A, it is rated at 900CCA(Cold Cranking Amps), and is a Group 4. It is today's version of the Original CCKW Factory Battery, and exactly fit the Battery Bracket and Cover. I am on my second one in around 22 years. They are good. Will kill $70.00 You will note the wooden spacers in your cover, they are designed to keep the battery from moving around.

I changed my truck to 12 volts and have a Delco 12 volt battey that fits the box nicely, but alas I do not know what the model number is. Cost around $50.00

Group is probably the 12 volt Commercial 31 as they are same dimension as the 6Volt Commercial group 4.
