CCKW USO markings

Post by 41CCKW »

Does anybody have any pics or info on what the bumper #s would be if a CCKW was in the USO?

I'm not sure if there would be any official markings for USO vehicles beign that the USO is actually a civilian organization however like the American Red Cross and other service agencies that work closely with the military they did on occasion utilize military vehciles. I wish I could remeber where but a while back on a website I saw a picture of an M35 in Vietnam that had a bunch of good looking ladies in the cargo bed standing and waving and on the door of the M35 there were big letters in white that said U.S.O. I also vaguely remember seeing (I don't remember where) a picture of a CCKW with a van body that said something like "American Red Cross Mobile Canteen" or something like that (maybe it was in the caption I can't really remeber). I think the picture was taken in England. There were ladies handing out refreshments or cigarettes or something like that from the van body.

Joe wants to put USO markings on the bumper of the 41CCKW. I wish he would let us restore it with a correct bed and gas tank but he wants to keep it a stage truck. Ryan what do you think of just painting it up like a 13th AAF truck?

I wish he would too I think that the stage truck is a waste of a good vehicle. That truck will never look good with that farmer flat bed on it. I am not planning an expending too much time or money getting it going myself other than maybe a quicky paint job because I don't beleive in spending money on something that will have little to no value when it is finished. I am going to concentrate my efforts on the CCW because once it is finished it will be original and it will be worth what is put into it. I already located a bed and gas tank for it but then he told me he wanted to keep that flat bed on it so I didnt follow up on them.
