The data plate is missing on my CCKW, as somtime the cab was swaped with a Chevy J-3 field lighting unit. Frame # CCKW 353 127786-2, it's a cargo now as I'm 95% finish ( 3 years of work and a good wife ) and trying to have it at the county fair in August.

I would say Oct. '42. I have the data plate for 126893 dated 10-42.

Hello Tim,
A friend of mine just bought CCKW 353 129388-2, Chris T helped out with a guess on the production date. I'm not a 2 1/2 ton owner but will be helping with this one soon. Just found this site this evening and notice quite a number of familar names from another MV site.

My friend's truck runs and drives and the cab metal is in really nice shape. It has a cut down M35 bed for now(wasn't too bad a job really) as it was set up as a reenactor vehicle. I guess it looks okay to the 2 1/2 ton newbie like me. I find this seems to be the site I'll need for the correct ideas for a proper resto.

I started out doing a GPW(for me), now I'm finishing a WC 51 for a good friend, have a trailer(for me) in progress, then I gotta do a M38 for my father and now a 2 1/2 ton on the waiting list. Dang this OD fever!

Hope y'all got room for one more newbie.

THE IMFORMATION THAT I HAVE SAY'S ALL THREE OF YOUR TRUCKS WERE PRODUCED IN AUGUST OF 1942. THE STARTING AND ENDING SER # FOR AUGUST IS 115,622 - 129,626 . I THINK ON CHRIS'S TRUCK THE 10-42 IS THE DEL DATE NOT THE PRODUCTION DATE. I HOPE THIS HELPS.

Not to confuse, but to fine tune the production date and delivery date could get nit picky, as there is history of CCKW Cab and Chassis trucks being stored for the better part of a year or more while awaiting a special purpose body, this could be Pipeline, Dental service, Photo Lab, Air Compressor, Water Purification, Surgical Van, Ordnance, Small Arms, Radio Repair. Suffix A-1/A-2,B-1/B-2, most likely had the fastest delivery, others had to be shipped and stored at locations that provided special installation.

Thanks all for the welcome. As I say I don't own the CCKW, I'll just be helping on this one. Good to see Mr. Gopan posting here. When you dropped off the g503 board I was worried something bad had happened.

Joel helped me out by sending two F marked gas caps back when I was starting out on my 1/4 ton. Wouldn't take payment even for shipping. I don't forget people like that. I look forward to learning more about the CCKW here.

My truck is S/N 162610.I have made a guess at Dec.42 or Jan.43 but if anyone can confirm that would be great.
