"The operation of GMC trucks is normally smooth and steady, with no loud rattling, knocking or unusual noises.
"A good driver will quickly become accustomed to driving a GMC truck and will get the feel of his vehicle regardless of his engineering knowledge."

To many present CCKW owners, all noises will be strange, some will not become accustomed to them and will ponder whether to sell it or fix their CCKW. Others will assume all the noise is normal until their beast ejects its guts. About a year and a half ago, on another site, there was an owner who would not accept that shifting out of front wheel drive on dry pavement was a normal occurance, and dumped his CCKW, even after the procedure to shift it easily, was explained.

I love the sound of a CCKW. The engine and the whine of the gears. It is pleasing to my ears. The more you drive your truck the more accustumed one becomes to the sounds and anything out of the ordinary will suddenly become obvious to you.

About 8 years ago I was in the White Mountains if NH leading my club on their annual Fall Foliage Tour and had my cargo CCKW. After we got onto a smooth road, I mentioned to my wife that either something was very seriously wrong with the deuce, OR we had a flat on the rear.
We stopped and sure enough, I had a flat on the outside tire that was matched to the other 4 outside tires. I now had one position where I had a smaller tire on the inside that making everything bind. I could hear it in the drivetrain!

I am going to name my CCKW Snow White, cause I can feel the need for seven seat cushions under me in order to see out of my open cab while driving it.
Mine sometimes sings the Caisson Song to me when on the way to a parade.
